Action research evaluation programme and publications

  • A research project was commissioned from the  Institute of Employment Studies, designed to understand the career paths and choices of senior leaders, provide advice to aspiring leaders and inform future development activity.  Three documents are available :  senior leaders career paths, a useful hints and tips booklet and the full report of the IES research work.  Hard copies of these documents are available upon request from pascale.quercioli@yorksandhumber.nhs.uk
  • NHS Yorkshire and the Humber commissioned Roffey Park Institute to conduct an independent survey to investigate the impact of our leadership strategy, Excellence in Leadership, Excellence in Health, on NHS organisations in the region. The  report "Leadership Survey 2010" , published in July 2010, is based on research carried out with senior NHS leaders from across the region earlier this year.   It has been circulated to chief executives, human resources directors and  those who took part in the survey with the following message from Jan Sobieraj: “For those of us that have been involved in managing significant change, we know that strong leadership is the ingredient that makes the difference between success and failure.  As we face a changing landscape across the system, the messages in this report and the actions we need to take forward become ever more critical.  Can I urge you to read this report and circulate it as you feel necessary, and pass your thoughts over to the Regional Leadership Council's members, including myself.”
  • ‘Headspace’ is an e-newsletter aimed at Chairs, Chief Executives, Executive and Non Executive Directors in the NHS in Yorkshire and the Humber region.  Please feel free to share it more widely if helpful.

Headspace Issue 1  -  Board Development

Headspace Issue 2  -  Partnership, place shaping and systems leadership

Headspace Issue 3  -  Equality and Diversity

If you have any case studies or ideas that might be included for the benefit of other NHS organisations, please contact Carol Pickering or Joanna Valentine.
