NHS Yorkshire and the Humber funds a variety of Continuing Professional and Personal Development (CPPD) opportunities with a number of providers. For further details of modules, courses or programmes supported by the SHA please see the Funding Guide and CPD 4 Yorkshire and the Humber.
Access to CPPD (formerly known as LBR or PBE) funded by NHS Yorkshire and the Humber is available to those meeting the following criteria.
The applicant is
- employed by an organisation providing NHS services and/or providing audited/profiled practice placements* for NHS students within the Yorkshire and Humber region
- meets the entry criteria and has the written support of their employing organisation
This includes
- non-registered personnel
- social care staff that are part of integrated health and social care teams
- staff from third sector organisations
- applicants who are not employed within healthcare organisations but who contribute to the delivery of NHS services, for example service users
- applicants who are unemployed new graduate** healthcare professional trained within the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Applicants should note that not all courses, programmes and modules within each university are funded by the SHA. The SHA has a contract with each university and it is the SHA Education Commissioner's responsibility, in partnership with key stakeholders and the education providers, to decide which of its courses, programmes and modules are included within the contract. It should also be noted that whilst there are some exceptions, programmes and modules outside of the schools of health (or their equivalent) are not usually funded by the SHA. * Practice placement: practice experience can be gained wherever practice takes place and can incorporate:
- placements in an identified area of care
- practice experience gained through alternative approches e.g. students working over a period of time with a patient or client involving a range of settings
- practice experience gained in a skills laboratory or other simulated setting
** New graduate: an individual who graduated within the last 12 months and has not yet secured employment.
