Welcome to Yorkshire and the Humber Local Supervising Authority (LSA).
Statutory supervision of midwives has been operating in the UK for over a hundred years and each LSA is responsible for ensuring that it is effective. It has developed to become a means by which midwives are supported and developed in, and with, their practice.
What is supervision for?
Supervision of midwives is designed to:
1. Give guidance and support to midwives in supporting them in achieving excellence in their practice.
2. Ensure that the care offered to women is appropriate, is given in the right place, by the right person, and will ensure that women and their babies receive safe and personalised care of the highest quality.
The Local Supervising Midwifery Officer (LSAMO) for Yorkshire and the Humber is Carol Paeglis.
