NHS Yorkshire and the Humber

Meaningful engagement with patients and the public is key to ensuring we continue to deliver sustainable improvements in clinical services, patient experience and outcomes of care.

Please see below examples of our work to improve patient and public involvement.

  • LINks

Working with the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health, we are facilitating the development of models for the timely implementation of Local Involvement Networks (LINks).

  • Public health

Working with the Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, we have been awarded funding to develop a two year regional project which will support local authorities in strengthening their contribution to public health both in improving health and reducing health inequalities.

  • Service Delivery Advisory Group

We are part of the regional Service Delivery Advisory Group (part of Local Government Yorkshire and the Humber) to promote and ensure close practical working with other public sector bodies, in particular around good practice in public consultation and involvement.

  • Faiths Forum

We have established relationships with the Yorkshire and the Humber Faiths Forum.  This provides the opportunity for strategic influence and a gateway to access the nine major faith communities across the region.

  • Scrutiny Officer Network

We are a key stakeholder within the Yorkshire and the Humber Scrutiny Officer Network promoting a coherent approach to health scrutiny across the region and developing the capacity and capability of members.

  • NHS Centre for Involvement

We are working with the NHS Centre for Involvement to develop proposals on how, through effective leadership, patient and public involvement can influence organisational culture and improve patient experience.

  • Patient Opinion

We are working with Patient Opinion, a not-for-profit social enterprise, to promote structured and constructive conversations between patients, healthcare providers, commissioners and patient groups leading to positive service improvements.

  • Health and Social Care Act

In accordance with Section 11 of the Health and Social Care Act, the SHA involves individual members of the public and patients, particularly in areas such as ministerial visits and as members of steering groups.
